Plane Lost in Cornfield

Tuesday July 11, 2006
In addition to making sure that your operating area is free of power lines and trees you might ought to check for tall stalks of corn too. A fellow from Wisconsin got lost in a cornfield while looking for his downed RC airplane, resulting in a three-hour search by authorities and worried friends. He found his way out of the "maize" on his own sometime later but the RC plane wasn't found. Fortunately the man is OK and he has a funny story to tell at a future family gathering. But his misfortune underscores the need for safety and forethought when operating your RC. Taking along a buddy or a cell phone or choosing a clearer flying area could have saved taxpayers some money and the RC flyer some embarrassment.
