Breaking In or Being Broke - What's Your Preference?

Wednesday July 26, 2006
I've seen it many a time. Some guy at the track can't keep his nitro car running. He's cussing and ranting at the car (what does he think he's going to do? make it cry and start up?). After a few minutes of discussion I learn that he's only had the car a few days. I ask about how it ran during break-in and he gets this puzzled look on his face. Uh oh. I know that look. The guy just took the car out and starting running it as fast as he could right out of the box.

Yes, I'm just as impatient as those guys. You probably are too. You just spent a few hundred dollars on this shiny new RC and you want to play, play, play. But you're just throwing that money away if you don't take the time to do a proper nitro engine break-in. It only takes a couple of hours and it will save you so much time and aggravation down the road and give you years of mostly trouble-free performance from your nitro engine.
