Four Ways to Get Savage

Saturday January 26, 2008
I've written about the Savage X and the earlier Savage 25 Limited Edition. The Savage is a great nitro monster truck from HPI. Now you can compare all of the current Savage offerings side-by-side in this chart from HPI Racing. The lineup: Savage X 4.6 RTR, Savage X 4.6 with Reverse RTR, Savage X SS Super Sport Kit, and the Savage 3.5 RTR. Quickly take in the similarities (they all have adjustable 2-speed gearbox and 3-shoe clutch, for example) and the differences (only one has roto start, one has alumninum tuned pipe while others are composite, for instance).

Looking at them side-by-side like that (the table is at the bottom of the page), there are really only minor differences in the four versions, the biggest difference being the smaller engine and possibly less durable or less easy-access parts of the 3.5.
