Let's Race! RC Cars for Really Little Kids

From Michael James, About.com GuideJune 18, 2008

My 15 month old grandson is getting into the age when I can start introducing him to RC vehicles. Last week my wife picked up a couple of cars for him at KB Toys. One is radio control, the other remote control.

Aimed at toddler/preschool age children, these represent the most basic RC vehicles. And it turns out that they also demonstrate some of the different features -- good and bad -- to look for in an RC car for very small children. Both have simple forward and reverse movements and they make sounds. The sound and movements help children of this age develop their fine motor skills and learn about cause and effect -- press a button and the vehicle moves or makes sounds. Press the correct button and you can make it turn around and come back to you or avoid an obstacle.
