Put a Big Rig in Your Garage

I often jokingly beg my wife to let me have a big rig as a personal vehicle -- like a normal person has a car or pickup truck. Of course the reply is always "Heck No!" and "Besides, it won't fit under the car port" So my wish-list alternative right now is an RC big rig. The King Hauler would be my personal first choice in radio controlled big rigs from the Tamiya RC Tractor Truck series.

I've been around 18-wheelers and other big trucks most of my life. When I was young my father used to make my older brother and I draw straws to see who would ride with him during the summer. I always got to go first for the first month. There was something about being in a big rig that excited me. My father used to do all the shifting and pedal work but I got to steer it down the highway. Being seven years old that meant a lot. Later on in life against my fathers wishes I became a truck driver as well. Having all those years behind me was what made me a natural at learning how to operate a big rig.

About 140,000 miles worth of driving later I gave it all up. While I love my job now, I still sometimes wish I could drive the big rigs again. But being away from the wife and kids is a harsh life to live... for me anyways. But all is not lost since they do make radio controlled tractor trucks and semi trailers.
