I'm So Xcited! XMODS Are Back

Monday October 13, 2008
I was in my local Radio Shack store picking up some electronic components for another project when I heard one my step-daughters shout "Ah, cool. They're bringing back the XMODS!"

Of course I had to investgate to see if it was a wish come true (for me anyways). I was so bummed when RadioShack discontinued the Evolution series last year.

Well, I'm here to tell you that it's no dream, no rumor. XMODS are back and just in time for the holiday season. They're called XMODS Street series and RadioShack will start flooding the shelves with them as more become available. Under the hood they're the same as the Evolution (Generation 2) series but the Street series has all new styles. So keep an eye out for them at your local RadioShack stores or online.

See the XMODS 1965 Ford Mustang, currently the only one listed online. Like previous XMODS, the Starter Kit runs around $50.00. My wife and I scooped up a bunch of accessories last year when it looked like the end for the XMODS. Now I have several upgrades ready (like a Stage 2 motor upgrade, perhaps) for when I get my new cars.

I shared your same excitement when i saw them on the shelves but they are not what the were. I truly feel they have taken a step backwards with no body kits, fixed crystal and poor packing. There isn’t even and option to upgrade seeing there is no screw holes for bodie kits or spoilers. I’m still collecting them considering i have every car from the first and second Gen. Good to see another “XMOD JUNKY” LOL! :)
