Build an RC Sub

Wednesday July 16, 2008
Building a radio controlled submarine should be easy -- stick a motor in a tube, right? There's more to it than that. Unfortunately, it can take some digging to find actual instructions for building an RC submarine from scratch. There are some great sites out there devoted almost entirely to submarines, but sometimes you have to dig to find detailed information -- especially information for beginners. As a first step, it's good to learn the basic materials and a little of the terminology you'll encounter as you search for plans and buy kits and parts: What Do I Need in Order to Build an RC Submarine?

If you're a first time RC sub builder, what specific resources and information did you find online (or offline) that was especially helpful to you? If you're a longtime RC sub builder, what are the mistakes, misconceptions, and missteps that you most often see others make (or that you made yourself)? Share your expertise.
