Features of the Scorpion RC Rock Crawler
- Rims and tire that don't need any messy gluing make replacing them a snap. There are also sporting beadlock rings both front and back of each tire, held securely in place with six screws.
- The kit version has aluminum differential locks and hardened steel axle shafts that give you the added grabbing power needed to climb over the toughest of terrain.
- Aluminum side plates and tubing give this monsterous rock crawler a lightweight but rigid and bashable chassis to withstand the hardest of obstacles.
- The AX10 Scorpion's transmission is the heart of rock crawler with gear ratio ranges from 15:1 all the way to 74:1 so you can find the best balance of high speed and crawling speed.
- With the low CG (center of gravity) and motor placement the chassis has no problem keeping all four tires on the ground. The transmission is also locked to keep all the power going to the wheels and not wasted.
- Long nitride-coated shock shafts give the utmost in movement to the Scorpion's suspension -- up to 70 degrees of articulation.
- Hardened steel yokes and hard composite material drive shafts make up the rest of the drivetrain to make broken driveshafts a thing of the past.
Build It... or Buy It Built
I hope if you have the chance to build one that it's as much fun for you as it was for me. I highly recommend this kit for both intermediate and experienced builders. For the beginners out there, you might consider at least have someone who knows how to build near at hand so they can answer any questions you might have in completing this not-so-basic kit.
However if you want an awesome rock crawler without the building, in addition to the kit, there are several other versions of the AX10 Scorpion:
RTR/C: Ready-To-Race/Crawl Version.
Just add batteries. Comes with the 27T motor for both speed and crawling and a pre-painted body.
ARTR: Almost-Ready-to-Run Version.
Rolling chassis comes assembled but you'll need to add your own electronics (transmitter, receiver, servo, speed control, battery). Body is pre-painted.
RTC: Ready to Crawl Version.
Just add batteries. Comes with 55T motor which "provides optimum low-end pull and slower wheel speed while crawling."
They are all pretty much the same Scorpion RC rock crawler but with some differences in shocks, motors, body styles and other features. They just come in different levels of readiness so you can skip the building process and start crawling right away.
