Adverse Yaw

By Michael James, About.com

Definition: Yaw is movement around the vertical axis in aircraft. With some radio controlled airplanes, drag on the ailerons during a banking turn can cause adverse yaw.

What Adverse Yaw Does to the RC: The plane yaws or turns in the opposite direction than the pilot intended.

Compensating for Adverse Yal: Adjusting the ailerons -- moving them up or down -- and use of the tail rudder can reduce adverse yaw and get the RC back on course.
