Antenna Tube

Definition: Many RC vehicles have long, flexible receiver antenna wires that trail outside the body of the RC. To keep the antenna from dragging, you can thread it through an antenna tube -- a semi-rigid plastic tube designed specifically for the antenna.

Make Your Own Antenna Tube: Create a homemade antenna tube from soda straws, hollow coffee stirrers, or other semi-rigid plastic material.

What Doesn't Fit in the Antenna Tube: The antenna wire is often much longer than the antenna tube. After running the antenna through the antenna tube, wrap the excess around the outside of the tube in a spiral. Don't wrap it too loosely but do space it out so that it isn't all bunched up in one spot. Use a little piece of electrical tape to secure the loose end to the tube. Add an antenna cap or piece of tape to the top of the antenna tube to further secure it.
