Drivers' Stand

By Michael James, About.com

Definition: At an RC track, the drivers' stand is a designated area -- usually a raised platform -- from which all drivers with RCs currently on the track sit or stand in a row and drive their vehicles.

Depending on the size of the track, the drivers' stand may be anywhere from a couple of feet to as much as 15 feet high. This allows drivers an unobstructed view of the entire course.

For races sanctioned by ROAR, IFMAR, or other racing organizations the drivers' stand as well as the entire track must meet specific guidelines.

Also Known As: drivers' area
