Drivetrain: wheels, axle, gears, and motor in a nitro RC car

Definition: The gears, wheels, and axles of a radio controlled vehicle are known collectively as the drivetrain. Similar to the transmission and rear-end in a real car, the drivetrain is what gives the RC car motion when power (generated by the motor or engine) is applied.

Electric RCs generally have all plastic parts. Nitro RCs may have metal or metal and plastic parts. Some parts of the drivetrain on both electric and nitro RCs can be upgraded to more durable metal parts.

Alternate Spellings: drive train
