Hairpin

By Michael James, About.com

Definition: On an RC track, a hairpin is a sharp bend or tight banked or unbanked turn in the track. Hairpin turns usually require the driver to slow down considerably to keep the RC on the track. A hairpin gets its name from a hairpin or bobby pin -- a piece of bent wire used to hold hair in place.
