Definition: RC car bodies are typically made of molded plastic. Lexan is a trademark for the most common type of polycarbonate plastic sheet that is used to make RC bodies that you buy at a hobby shop. Originally clear, paint is applied to the inside of the Lexan body so the paint doesn't scratch off during rough handling, bumps, flips, and wipeouts.

Lexan bodies can be painted with spray paint, paintbrushes, or air brushing techniques. Decals are often affixed to the outer body.
