Definition: An electric RC has a battery pack that powers an electric motor. Most toy-grade RCs have electric motors. The gas-powered or nitro glow engines of some hobby-grade RCs may be called a motor at times, but usually motor refers to electric motors only.

There are two types of electric motors in current use in the RC hobby: brushed and brushless. Toy-grade electric RCs almost always have brushed electric motors. More powerful brushless electric motors are increasingly popular in hobby-grade electric RCs.

Also Known As: electric motor
