Definition: As a battery is being charged, it has a small drop in voltage when it reaches a full charge. This is its peak charge point. The peak charger detects this drop in voltage and adjusts accordingly. A fast charging peak charger charges a battery to full capacity quickly then automatically stops charging. By detecting when the battery is fully charged or at its peak charge point, the charger then either shuts itself off or its charging rate drops down to a trickle maintaining the battery at a balanced level without overcharging.
You don't have to time your charging because the peak charger shuts off (or cuts its charge rate) automatically. By cutting off when the battery hits the peak charge there is no excessive heating by overcharging. This extends the life of the battery and reduces the chance that your battery pack will overload and explode.
