ROAR

By Michael James, About.com

Definition: First organized in 1967, ROAR (Remotely Operated Auto Racers) is a US/Canadian non-profit corporation that supports the sport of radio controlled car racing. ROAR rules govern RC car racing, setting guidelines such as defining the types of cars and accessories allowed at a ROAR sanctioned race.

ROAR membership benefits include member insurance coverage at ROAR sanctioned events. ROAR doesn't run races itself but it sanctions approved RC races run by ROAR clubs and tracks. It also organizes race teams to represent the US and Canada in IFMAR World championship RC races.
