Definition: The wheels on an RC car or truck consist of two or three distinct parts. The tire is the foam, rubber compound, or plastic part that fits on a plastic or metal rim. There may or may not be tire inserts inside the tires.

Foam tires are solid, treadless tires for on-road use. Rubber tires most closely mimic the tires found on full-size vehicles and are typically used in off-road RC sports and come with a variety of tread patterns. Some toy RCs have solid plastic tires with or without treads.
