Definition: While real car tires are filled with air, a tire on a RC may have a tire insert for cushioning. These removable foam or rubber tire inserts fit inside the tires to help them keep their shape. Tire inserts can be changed out to provide better handling on different types of surfaces.
Some types of tires, especially softer tires with high tire walls, would tend to sink in and lose traction without tire inserts. When left sitting on a shelf for an extended period of time tires without tire inserts may get flat on the bottom.
