Turn Marshal

By , About.com Guide

Definition: At an RC track or a slot car racing track, the turn marshal is someone who aids drivers when their cars flip over, stall, or get stuck. The turn marshal will quickly get an RC back on the track and out of the way of oncoming traffic. If a car or truck runs out of fuel or is inoperable, the turn marshal removes the vehicle from the track.

Track Rules
Tracks usually have designated turn marshals who may be required to follow an established set of rules for formal races. For informal track use, turn marshalling may be provided on a casual basis by volunteers.

Turn Marshal Positioning
A turn marshal, as the name implies, is typically positioned at all turns or corners. A turn marshal may be on the outside or inside of the track depending on the track configuration and based on where most vehicles typically have trouble negotiating the track.

Also Known As: corner marshal
Alternate Spellings: turn marshall
