Wheel or Rim

Definition: The wheel is the plastic or metal rim that attaches to the axle of the RC. The tire fits on the wheel. Additionally, wheel can refer to the tire and rim as a whole.

What Wheels Are Made Of: Most RC wheels are plastic although a lightweight aluminum might be used. Some wheels have a small groove around the edges into which the tire bead fits. This is also where the tires are glued to the wheel.

How the Wheel Fits on the RC: The wheel attaches to the axle and is held in place with a wheel nut or possibly an e-clip or cotter pin.

The Color of RC Wheels: Some wheels are plain white, solid nylon plastic. Others may mimic the silver rims on full-size vehicles and have a chrome appearance or come in other colors such as black, gray, or blue. The wheel may have spokes or a spinning rim and even lights in the wheels.
