Does It Meet the Description on the Box?
Traxxas delivers the goods yet another time with its Ready-to-Run package which includes the Stampede, pistol grip controller, a tricked out Stinger racing engine, and the added bonus option — an electronic speed control. How awesome is that? For the uninitiated, an electronic speed control or ESC provides more precise, faster response time than manual speed control. It's more efficient and doesn't require the battery power of the servo mechanism in RCs without an ESC.
In my opinion the Stampede earns a solid yes as to whether it meets the description on the box. The only thing I wish they could have done to the Stampede is to make the battery compartment a little more hassle free when it comes time to change the batteries. It's not hard or difficult at all but having to take the clips off the receiver guard is an extra step that's bothersome. Other than that, the Traxxas Stampede Monster Truck is a great vehicle. My son and I have enjoyed it immensely since I pulled it out of the box.
A Good Buy

Traxxas Stampede Does Wheelie in the Dirt
Photo © M. JamesAs far as I'm concerned Traxxas has my vote again in creating a durable but moderately priced hobby-grade electric RC that can be enjoyed by kid at heart RC enthusiasts like me or beginner RC tikes of all ages.
Suggested Extras or Upgrades
For less downtime, consider a quick charger for your battery pack, such as the Dynamite Prophet Plus AC/DC Advanced Peak Charger.
Compared to toy electrics, the hobby-grade electric Stampede is a speed demon. But if that's not fast enough for you, there's also the screaming Nitro Stampede.
The Stampede is available with a choice of multi-color paint jobs.
