RC Racing Down Memory Lane

From "hand-powered" off-roading to the feeling of "Darn it! I forgot to charge the batteries," this selection of RC videos give great examples of what we all deal with on a daily basis. Watch the videos then vote in poll and tell us what you think all six RC videos have in common.

• This RC Does Everything But Fly, For Now
  The Terrainiac handles all kinds of terrain. It's great for all seasons; snow, water, and even the occasional summertime backyard off-road racing with your friends.
  
  
• PUSH it to the limit!
  What is all the hype about horsepower? It looks like manpower to me. This commercial kept me laughing for quite awhile. Look at it this way, it suggests a good option for dead batteries. Personally I don't want to put this much effort into playing with a toy-grade RC.
  
  
• Sprint Car Fever -- Now That's What I'm Talking About
  For anyone who remembers being at a sprint car race event, you can relive the thrills and spills of your favorite "outlaw" moments.
  
  
• I Need a Bigger Fly Swatter Mom!
  This radio controlled insect is every arachnophobes nightmare. Armed with a multiple dart cannon and menacing eyes it is guaranteed to make any starship trooper quiver in his boots.
  
  
• Flashback to the 80's
  "Oh how I remember the time!" This video definitely gives us older folk a nostalgic feeling. On road racing at its best "at that time." Anyone that can relate to this video knows what I am talking about when I say "Oh yeah, turn on the turbo switch."
  
  
• Anyone Have a Fishing Rod?
  Santa really needs to bring this fella some batteries for Christmas. A fishing rod might be helpful too, but he got that last year but with no line, so hopefully this year someone will get him some. Until then this RC boat will be floating into oblivion unless someone invents a floating, waterproof battery charging station.

For those who missed it, what these videos all have in common is that they are all Tyco RCs. Some Tyco RCs do have turbo-boost, but not all the ones in these clips. And while Tyco does make some inexpensive toys (not hobby-grade RCs), some of these did originally retail for more than $40. And as to that off-road choice... well, I suppose you could argue that an RC boat (in the last video listed) is technically an off-road vehicle, that's not the common definition.
