Tired of the same old tired resolutions like losing weight or giving up the cigs? Try some resolutions that are a lot more positive, fun, entertaining, and even educational. Of course I'm talking about resolutions that involve radio controlled vehicles.
1. Resolve to take good care of any and all RCs I currently own.
Any RC vehicle, toy or hobby-grade will last longer and provide many more months or years of fun with proper operation and maintenance.
2. Resolve to buy at least one new RC toy this year.
Even if you own the latest and greatest hobby-grade RC trucks or airplanes, we can be amused and enthralled by some of the really cool RC toys out there -- no age limits!
3. Resolve to buy at least one new hobby-grade RC this year.
Whether or not you've ever owned a hobby-grade RC vehicle before, let 2009 be the year you jump feet first into the RC hobby. It's a world away from the basic RC cars and trucks you get at most toy stores.
4. Resolve to learn how to become proficient at flying RC helicopters.
RC helcopter flight is a tough skill to master but oh so worth it. Even if all you want to do is buzz around the living room, get your chopper pilot wings.
5. Resolve to find a local RC club or track and visit regularly.
If no one else in your immediate circle of friends is as excited about the smell of nitro fuel or as enamored of electric motors as you, go out and find those who are. Plus, a real RC track can be tons more fun or at least a nice change of pace from the park or your own backyard.
6. Resolve to build one RC vehicle from a kit or from the ground up.
Whether you are mechanically or electronically inclined or just want to have control every aspect of your new RC, there's nothing like the feel of accomplishment you get when you know your RC inside and out because you built it yourself.
7. Resolve to buy at least one new RC for a friend this year.
Share the joy of radio controlled vehicles with a friend and you may find yourself with a new person to take RC with (who actually understands you). Choose an RC based on the interests and attributes of your friend.
8. Resolve to try out at least one new type of RC vehicle this year.
Get out of the RC rut. Try something new. Love helicotpers? Try a submarine. A master with the off-road buggies? Go fly an airplane or get an on-road car.
9. Resolve to participate in the About.com Radio Controlled Vehicles forum.
Got something to say? Ask a question. Vent your frustration. Post pictures. Share your knowledge and expertise by answering questions or posting tips and tutorials. Come talk about any aspect of radio controlled vehicles.
10. Resolve to subscribe to the About.com Radio Controlled Vehicles newsletter.
There's a newsletter every Thursday that lets you know what's new. Or subscribe to one of our RSS feeds through Yahoo, Google, AOL, or standard RSS and check out headlines and what's hot at anytime.
