The Crash FX has a unique way of teaching the art of RC flight. Crashing is an intended part of the flying lessons. The FlyTech Crash FX RC airplane is designed so when it crashes the RC can easily be snapped back together. Instead of being discouraged from flying or being afraid to even get started, there's relief in knowing that crashes are A-OK. They have finally made an RC airplane tailored for people like me. I can get in some flight time without those expensive trips to the local hobby store. And of course, with a plane that's designed to break apart, crashing becomes the goal instead of something to avoid.
What's in the Box
The Crash FX RC airplane is an IR (infrared) micro-sized toy-grade RC airplane that comes in two colors (silver with red and white accents and blue with yellow and white accents). Both planes are equipped with the Easi-Snap system that makes crashing the best part of the Crash FX experience.
The Crash FX RC airplane comes complete with the two channel IR transmitter, Crash FX RC plane, manual, and one spare propeller. The charging System like the other FlyTech Micro RCs is built into the transmitter. The transmitter requires 4 AA batteries which are not included.
Easi-Snap System for Fast Crash Recovery
The Easi-Snap system consists of three parts: the body, wing, and tail. Upon crashing, the wing and tail unsnap from the body to simulate a real crash -- but without real damage. At that point the pilot simply snaps the wing and tail back on and goes on about flying without the added expense of costly repairs like the ones for hobby-grade RC planes or the total annihilation that comes with many toy RC planes.
Flight Time and Flight Area
The flight time is pretty much the same as other FlyTech aircraft. A 10 minute charge will get you about 5-10 minutes of flight time.
The FlyTech Crash FX is an indoor only micro RC airplane. Given the light weight material it's made of, the slightest breeze could send it way off course -- so watch out for indoor fans and vents. Keep it indoors.
All and all I give WowWee two thumbs up on this one. I like the fact that they made a great toy grade RC airplane that is affordable and a lot of fun to fly and without the added hassle of expensive replacements and repairs.
