From the article: What are the Different Ways to Start a Nitro Engine?
There are three main ways to start the nitro engine: pull start, bump start, electric start. Which do you prefer? Do you buy (or not buy) an RC based on whether or not it has a pull start? Do you have some tips on using a starter box more effectively? Is a shaft starter better than an on-board starter? Let's here about your experiences starting a nitro engine on any kind of RC. Share your tips. Tell us which method is the best, in your opinion.
EZ START
- man i think ez start all the way because yea you might be able to find a prob easier but if you cant find the same prob running the truck it must not be a big prob any way it also beats bump cuz with ez start u just stick it in the back and press the button :) EZ haha and u dont have to lug it around...just pop it out of ur pocket or toolbox...WAY MORE CONVENIENT and if u buy a new traxxas model it comes with an ez start anyway (most...correct me if im wrong) and the last thing some times ur arm gets tired on the pull start so u dont turn it over fast enough=no start but pop in the ez starter and POW

pull or roto
- i like pull starts but if it is cold out they are a pain and i use a roto start and i like it and it is alot quicker and faster but it is hard to lug around it is some motcch to remeber to bring out to the track any way but i would go with roto or pull roto are alot of money tought and they are harder to prime the enigene with becasue with the roto start if you dint have a button thing you might flood the engine with roto start by spining it to mutch

pull start
- i would definatly prefer pull start its always easy to pull the cord about what 5 inches.i think the electric starter is nice but also could be a waste of your money.

carson dazzler vs tamiya tgs
- i got both pull and electric start but i still prefer pull start but wen im having a lazy day its the electric

Pull Start all the way!
- Much easier than other methods IMO. You can tell what's going on by the sounds the engine makes when you give it a tug, very good for troubleshooting. The only disadvantage of pull start for me is having to rebuild it if you break it.. Not fun.. Roto-Start isn't bad, but the extra cash really just results in extra weight both on you and your car having to carry more around, and making sure it's charged all the time seeing as when it's done, so is your session.. - you can't hear whats going on for any problems either. Same goes for Box (Bump) start methods.

Traxxas EZ start
- Maybe I'm lazy or maybe not enough of a grease monkey to appreciate the pullstarter (too much like work) or lugging around a starter box but give me my Traxxas EZstart any day. If I get a new truck one day that doesn't have a electric starter thats the first thing I'm going to add.
